Kidman Park Pharmacy can administer the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine. Our Vaccinators will take you into a private room, explain the procedure, expectations and side effects as well as deal so you feel informed and comfortable. After the injection, you must wait 15 minutes in our store to ensure any adverse reactions are detected.
One of our Pharmacists, Victoria, has completed the Pharmacy Vaccination certification to enable her to administer Covid-19 Vaccines to all Australians over 18. She has experience vaccinating Fluvax and will commence vaccinating with Covid-19 from Mid-August 2021. At this stage we can only vaccinate using AstraZeneca, but this will change in September.
We also have a very experienced Nurse Practitioner - Lani Ramsey, who has spent many years vaccinating patients for their travel health. Lani has completed many post graduate courses in Travel Medicine as well as vaccinating procedures and risks. She is available on Thursdays at this time. We welcome her to our team.
Eligibility for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine
You are eligible for the AstraZeneca vaccine if you are aged 60 years or older.
If you are aged 18-59 years of age, you can choose to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine:
following an appropriate assessment of suitability by a qualified health professional; and
if you provide verbal or written consent.
Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine is the preferred vaccine for people aged 16 to 59 years, but the AstraZeneca vaccine can also be provided to this age group.
If you are aged under 60 years and have already had your first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and did not experience abnormal side effects, ATAGI recommends you still receive your second AstraZeneca dose. This will provide you with greater coverage against severe illness from COVID-19.
